Story behind the song
I couldnt do a bucket list of songs without including a song from Jeff Lynne's Electric Light orchestra . This is one of my favs. i used a synth for all the orchestra / strings parts . Vocals were a challenge and it's got some diminished chords in it ! not your average pop song ! it's a song about waiting on the phone for girlfriend / wife to pickup after being apart . Think Lynne was on tour at the time. think we've all been there at some point.
Lyrics
Hello How are you ? Have you been alright ? through all those lonely lonely lonely lonely nights. That's whatI'd say. I'd tell you everything If you'd pick up that telephone. Hey How you feelin' ? Are you still the same ? Don't you realise the things we did, we did were all for real Not a dream , I just can't believe they've all faded out of view yeah yeah ooh ooh ooh ohhhayhayhay Doo wop doo be doo doo wop do wah do lang Blue days black nights doo wah doo lang I look into the sky The love you need ain't gonna see you through And I wonder why The little things you planned ain't coming true. oh oh telephone line , give me some time I'm living in twilight oh oh telephone line, give me sometime I'm living in twilight musical bridge Okay so no one's answering can't you just let it ringa little longer longer longer oh oh oh I'll just sit tight through the shadows of the night and let it ring for evermore. oh oh woa yay yay ooh ooh hayhayhay Shoo wop doo be doo doo wop doo wah doo lang Blue days black nights doo wah doo lang I look into the sky The love you need ain't gonna see you through And I wonder why The little things you planned ain't coming true oh oh telephone line give me some time I'm living in twihlight oh oh telephone line give me sometime I'm living in twilight oh oh telephone line give me sometime i'm living in twilight

Wow Steve - this is just amazing! Probably my favourite ELO track and not one to tackle lightly - it’s a tricky tune with lots of quite intricate parts that all have to fit together perfectly. I do t know anyone else who could have done it but you’ve really pulled it off with some style. Outstanding!

Magnificent Steve! Haven't heard this song for many a year and was into ELO back in the day. The master has struck once more to kit '25 off in a truly superb way. Apart from the incredible vocals n music i love the sonics of the mix. It has that 70s analogue sound which I love. Not enough stars to give you so instead i've give you a gold medal for this one! Well done.

Absolutely stunning! Superb vocals - expression, phrasing, diction & those lovely smooth transitions from one register to another. Beautifully played instrumentation. I love your meticulous attention to detail & the time you spend rehearsing & perfecting everything. Also your attention to every aspect of the mix & production is really outstanding!

Well what a surprise this is... I have had my eye on this for awhle. LOL. Excellent.. Great work with the phone stuff... I was not sure how to pull that off. But you did no problem.. Piano is spot on. Sounds like you used the piano orchestra settings? Very impressive work Steve. And you continue to surprise... A great start to a new Year. And RIchard Tandy passed last year I think? Shame..

Absolutely fabulous cover Steve. The vocals ... all the multi- harmonised layers of them, are so smooth and perfectly sung and placed just right in the mix. You certainly have been very busy perfecting your keyboard playing skills. Brilliant stuff Steve.
